IMPLEMENTATION of easyFILL

To address these challenges, the lab has implemented easyFILL, an automated reagent dosing system developed to enhance safety, precision, and efficiency in acid handling. Initially introduced as a test unit, easyFILL quickly became an integral part of the lab’s daily workflow. Its advanced peristaltic pump technology enables accurate and repeatable reagent delivery, significantly reducing operator workload and the risk of manual errors. Calibration is straightforward, taking just a few minutes and requiring only a nearby balance, making it easy to maintain consistent volume accuracy. The software is intuitive and user-friendly, allowing even new users to operate the system with confidence. Once integrated into the lab’s routine, easyFILL proved indispensable for both high-volume and low-level trace analysis workflows.

Additional applications

As the team grew more familiar with easyFILL, they began using it for a wider range of tasks beyond standard acid dispensing. It became a valuable tool for performing post-digestion dilutions and even to dose the reagent for cleaning both in digestion vessels and in small sample tubes. For example, the lab frequently uses easyFILL to fill hundreds of 15 mL tubes with nitric acid for soaking, ensuring low background contamination in trace-level analyses. It is also used to acidify incoming water samples, allowing for quick and consistent sample preservation. These additional applications further streamlined operations, demonstrating the flexibility and time-saving potential of the system.

CONCLUSION

The implementation of easyFILL brought measurable improvements to the lab’s operations, addressing key issues related to efficiency, safety, and precision. By automating the repetitive task of acid addition, the system freed up valuable operator time and minimized the risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals. The consistency in volume delivery improved the reliability of experimental results, while the intuitive software made daily use straightforward for all lab personnel. Its minimal maintenance needs and quick calibration process further contributed to its seamless integration into the workflow. Today, easyFILL is considered a core part of the lab’s infrastructure, trusted for routine tasks as well as delicate, low-level analyses where accuracy and cleanliness are critical.
